Description

Doctor of Medicine at Arabian Gulf University prepares students to become professional doctors through strong medical education and clinical training. The program focuses on biomedical sciences, patient care, communication skills, and real healthcare practice. Students gain knowledge in human body systems, disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment to prepare them for medical careers.

Study Plan

Phase I (Year 1)

Students study basic sciences including English, Social Sciences, Islam & Medical Ethics, Psychology, Computer Sciences, Human Biology, Medical Physics, Biochemistry, and Biostatistics. The phase prepares students for self-directed learning, communication skills, medical ethics, and scientific evaluation.

Phase II (Years 2-4)

The curriculum is based on integrated organ/system units using Problem-Based Learning (PBL) through small group tutorials and self-directed learning. Units include Respiratory System, Cardiovascular, Gastrointestinal and Renal, Endocrine & Reproductive, Immune System, Musculo-Skeletal, CNS and Multisystem Integration. Students who complete this phase receive a B.Sc. degree.

Phase III (Years 5-6)

Students complete supervised clinical training in hospitals and healthcare centers. Clinical rotations include Pediatrics, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Family Medicine, Psychiatry, Ophthalmology, and ENT. Teaching methods include bedside teaching, outpatient clinics, clinical problem solving, workshops, seminars, and clinical simulations.
